 2018 Preview 


       J.B. Pennington completed the 2017 season with a 9-3 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region six, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. J.B. Pennington reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Piedmont by a score of 28-13.

       The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2007.

       Since 2010, J.B. Pennington has gone a combined 28-57. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 3A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, J.B. Pennington has managed to compile a record of 107-151. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 3A and 262nd in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Todd Cassity who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-14 over the past three seasons at J.B. Pennington. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cassity.

       Coach Cassity's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 35-23 (60.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Cassity's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times .

       The J.B. Pennington Tigers will play in Class 3A region five during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 3A but move from region six over to region five.

       The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Tigers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Jacksonville on Friday, August 24 at W.R. Sutton Memorial Stadium. Last year the Jacksonville Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in second place in Class 4A region five. The Golden Eagles lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Fayette County by a score of 32-16.

       J.B. Pennington and Jacksonville have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 0-2-0 record against the Golden Eagles. They last met in with

       J.B. Pennington returns 3A All-State  receiver Cole Littleton. He was named to the first team last season. The Tigers also return  linebacker Luke Cassity. He was named to the second team. The Tigers also return  athlete Noah Allison. He was named to the first team. The Tigers also return  offensive lineman Sean Watson. He was named to the second team.
